Greenhouse bases form the foundation for any long-standing greenhouse structure. Without a solid base to build from, you’ll probably find that your greenhouse will encounter problem after problem, so it’s essential that your base is prepared perfectly. Groundwork must also be taken into consideration when totting up labour costs and longevity of the structure.

What Greenhouse Base Options Are There?

Concrete Perimeter Base

The best of both worlds, a solid, durable base but also provides great drainage and the ability to grow direct into soil if you wish.

A central walkway is an optional addition.

Concrete Pad Base

You can rest assured with a concrete pad base that your base won't outlast your greenhouse. Some customers make use of existing pads or have a new one laid.

Just don't forget to think about how water will drain away!

Concrete Block Perimeter Base

A similar base to a concrete perimeter base, this style of base eliminates the need for concrete to be laid and allowed to set before installation.

Paved Perimeter Base

A great choice allowing any water to easily drain away and if you want to keep your feet clean you can also install a paved walkway down the middle.

Solid Paved Base

A great aesthetically pleasing yet practical finish. Special diamond tipped drill bits maybe needed for this type of base to help minimise the chance of slabs cracking during installation.

Don't forget to think about drainage as well.

Prepared Soil Base

Our Rhino greenhouses are plenty strong enough to be sited on a prepared soil base. The greenhouse is held in its permanent position by concreting it in place using the specially supplied brackets and J shaped ground anchors.

Once installed on a soil base the greenhouse can be back filled with shingle for example to create the perfect finish.

Brick Perimeter Base

Often used to create a decorative finish brick perimeter bases allow you to raise the greenhouse up slightly above ground level.

As with all hardstand bases, the greenhouse is held in its permanent position by plugging and screwing down using the specially supplied base brackets and, wherever possible, the supplied rawlbolts.
